RE: [A/S] Printers on the road

I just switched from an Epson printer to an all in one Kodak. I really like
it and it doesn't break the bank on the way to Staples for ink. Scan quality
is good. I use software to fax and email images. Foot print is fairly large
however.

I would think, if you have a dedicated office space in your trailer, that
you could leave the printer set up in the cabinet and just reconnect
wirelessly when you need it.

Subject: [A/S] Printers on the road

I'm going to have to upgrade and downsize my home office equipment for road
duty, and am having a desk buit in the space where once was a twin bed in
the rear of my '99 Safari. There will be a cabinet on the closet side with
adjustable shelves and a locking tambour door similar to the Airstream
version on the aft end resting on the enclosure that holds the back storage
boot. Not a lot of space, but at least stuff wont' fall out. I would love to
put the printer inside the cabinet for secure storage, but will have to pull
it out and set up paper trays and power cords every time (I think). I looked
at the Epson "Small-in-one" but the print quality was not quite what I
wanted, although I am still considering it.

I need an all-in-one printer that can work off iCloud as well as wireless
printing from iPad and a smart phone. Multi-color ink for optional color
prints would be nice, but an ink-miserly system would also be nice, as I
don't want to be going into debt on ink cartridges because I bought a really
cheap printer.

I need flatbed scanning ability, the occasional fax (could be software based
if I can figure out the smartest way to do that) and bulk paper loader.

I also need to know about power consumption (do those energy star ratings
really mean much?) and probably most important, how to secure it and cushion
it from inevitable road bounce.

If this is off-topic, guide me gently to another venue that maybe
specializes in on-road computing. I'm also trying to decide between another
MacBookPro or MacAir for the DVD-burning, USB portals and video editing
software needs, and any users who want to share their thoughts would be
appreciated. We can do the Apple stuff off-list if that works better for the
rest of the listees.

Thanks!

'lookin' at end of April for final launch!!!
