Vulkem was one of the two sealants used by Airstream. The high VOC's of
Vulkem forced them to change to other products among them SikaFlex 721UV
and TremPro 635.
Vulkem and it's replacements were/are used to seal roof penetrations,
eyebrow seal doors and windows. It is also used inside the shell to seal
joints and appliance penetrations. Those how have removed a water heater
know all to well how well Vulkem holds up.
My experience so far is that the Vulkem replacements do not hold up as
well in exterior applications. I still prefer Vulkem.
Arcyl R is a wicking sealer that draws up into seams and joints. It is
used to seal the tops of side moldings and vertical seam joints. Because
it is so runny it is not used on horizontal overlap seams
