Silicone does not adhere very well compared to Vulkem - except to your
fingers and the excess on the surface you are trying to clean off.

Note that Vulkem is a polyurethane sealant, and the only one that sticks
well to concrete, masonry and stone. It is a standard for roofers who know
their business.
