Yes, Colin - you are right, BUT (I'll bet you knew there would be a
"but"). <grin> Inspiring isn't their job, it's mine. It was then and
still is - although before our kids turned 18, inspiring started
working both ways.
Granted, I didn't take our kids to everything I was interested in,
but somehow they always knew what Dad was trying to build or create.
Their disarming awareness and insight into how to "make it happen"
often resulted in me eating humble pie. "Just keeping it real, Dad."
And that's still the case today, even though our son is retired (age
43) as a USAF F-15 Fighter Pilot and now flies MD-11s for FedEx
delivering cargo and packages around the globe every month.
Colin, thanks for chiming in. I had not consciously considered why I
took our kids to everything that interested me (or them) even when
there was an age restriction. All I knew was they had mastered a lot
of "stuff" many adults never grasp and they could hold their own in
most any conversation.
Now I think I'll go out into one of our Airstreams and reminisce for
a couple of hours (after I empty the mouse trap, open a few windows
and give everything its monthly vacuuming),
~ Cheers,
Terry
