Re: [A/S] Fresh water Tank Leak/testing/Problem solved?

I wonder if it was something as stupid as me not turning the hot water valves all the way open? I thought they were supposed to be a simple half turn for open or closed, but after going back to the owner's manual and seeing the diagram with the valves kind of half-way in-between, I started turning them as far open as they would go. Some water droplets at each fitting, but nothing on the compartment floor. I turned off the city water and turned the pump back on and, voila. No cycling. I ran the hot water for a while---(before, the heater would fire but not much hot water would come out,) and it was boiling hot. And plenty of it. The pump did its thing, shut off and went back to sleep. Jeesh.

I am truly chagrined at asking you folks to walk me through all this, and grateful for all the help and education. I certainly learned a lot!

I am definitely ordering another water pump, however, and will keep the Shure-Flo as my spare.

I still don't understand why there was water coming out of the seep hole on the belly tank, however. Or if this calm and peace is just a temporary reprieve and a systemic failure is waiting for me to hit the road, but for the moment, all is quiet in who-ville.

And if that was all it took, it was pilot error. Apparently. Not surprising:-)

Removing the PO installed petcock on the hot water heater drain hole will be a chore, however, as it's not budging. Thanks for the lesson in metal blending and I don't really know whether I should leave it as it is and assume a new water heater tank is not far down the road, or someday when I have time on my hands to try to horse it out of there and flush out the tank (I have a plastic tank flusher I bought for just that cause, but couldn't get the petcock/plug out, so it's still in the box).

The anode rod I bought but never installed says on the package it's for Atwood water heaters. Interesting that it might void the warranty (assuming there was one in place in this aging 13 1/2 yr old coach). When I bought the coach I noticed the PO wasn't using an external water filter and asked her about that, and she said she never needed one....so I suspect there is a lot of stuff in the bottom of this tank.

Hunter, what did you see that made you think an anode rod was already in there? All I can see is the petcock/drain valve, unless they sell them as a combo unit.

Back to packing.

Thanks ALL for this amazing education in water systems. I feel like an idiot if that was the problem. This list is an awesome resource, and the expertise here makes me dizzy at times. Ok, more than usual, anyway:-)
