I can still remember the shock that I felt when Kathy Hunt e-mailed me that her cancer had returned (I believe that she had been cancer free for more than ten years). It was bad enough that she was selling her beloved 1961 Bambi. I remember Kathy well as she was among the first Airstreamers to greet me and make me feel at home when I attendended my first International Rally in Boise, Idaho in 1998. She traveled the continent with her 1961 Bambi and 1993 For Crown Victoria tow vehicle . . . accompanied by her little Poodle Bae Bae.
When I first became actively involved in the WBCCI, and began attending International Rallys in 1998; there were three Free Wheelers that you could count on becoming acquainted . . . Kathy Hunt and her 1961 Bambi, Pearl Main and her 1964 Soverign with the special order jalousie windows, and Hunter Hampton. Kathy was my mentor and we shared many wonderful days traveling together on Caravans and just visiting at potlucks and Rallys. The last that I heard about Kathy, she was spending quite a bit of time with her daughter. Kathy taught me many of the classic tricks of living in a Vintage Airstream.
