Some specifics of your trailer's electrical system would be helpful
before attempting to answer your questions.

Number and size of batteries?

Size (power in watts) of SOLAR panel?

Type and size of SOLAR charge controller?

Type and size of AC charger? Is it the old style simple transformer type
used by Airstream for eons before they started installing the modern
solid state with charge regulation? (I'm uncertain what year they
changed)...

If the AC charger is the old type, before you do anything else, it
should be upgraded, the old ones are notorious for burning up batteries.

If you have an adequate SOLAR system, simply remove the old style AC
unit and do not replace it, the SOLAR system should be adequate to
maintain the batteries all depending on your DC current needs.

If lead acid batteries, "Interstate" seems to be a reliable popular
brand with RV'rs, if AGM batteries, I use and prefer Deka AGM batteries
and recommend them over any others I have used in the past.
