I may not remember correctly, but something similar happened to a friend at
a rally. His has an older Airstream, also. As I recall, the part of the
door handle that you lift to open the door latch fits on a shaft. There
is a roll pin that holds the door handle to the shaft. His roll pin broke
or came out. We "jury rigged" a temporary pin and he was able to open his
door during the rally. He made a more permanent fix when he got home.
