Re: [A/S] Progress and a couple questions/cat travel

I'll  raise you a 15 yr old daughter and a 10 yr old son !! They don't have a "litter box" problem but being locked in an Airstream on three consecutive rainy days sure can be ;o(

We do travel with a cat - we put a plug in the shower drain to solve worries of litter down the drain.

Three summers ago we went on a 6 week trip. And you're right - she's the easiest companion to travel with. She does whine sometimes but we've figured out that it's when we're going up/down mountains and we haven't been able to teach her to hold her nose and blow to clear her ears. Or to swallow on command. But there is hope. I have taught her to sit for her food and to come when I call her. A work in progress.

I put a liner on the shower floor and there rests the cat box. When I need to use the shower, it's a hassle but doable with a little prep work. Must be careful not to let stray litter get into the drain.  Sometimes one of my cats has slipped out but he has always stayed by the door and comes back inside when I plead. The other cat prefers watching the outdoors from the window. The two old dogs are the biggest challenge now, as the old lab, almost 100lbs, is arthritic and still has a back leg drag from a copperhead bite several years ago. I have a heavy ramp I unfold for both the truck back seat and getting them into and out of the Airstream. It's a PIA but it's what you do when your doggies become seniors and are too big to lift in and out by yourself. I worry what to do when it's Midnight's time and we are somewhere on the road in a strange place....

The cats, surprisingly, have the least issues when traveling.
