Japanese Culture And Tradition PART 2

Posted: 01 Jun 2012 06:07 AM PDT

Japanese Culture And Tradition PART 2 | Last article i mention about kimono & yukata at Japan. Let us recap about it, Kimono are worn at formal or traditional occasions such as funerals, weddings or tea ceremonies. Only rarely kimono can still be seen in everyday life

Tea Ceremony

The Japanese tea ceremony is called Chanoyu, Sado or simply Ocha in Japanese. It is a choreographic ritual of preparing and serving Japanese green tea, called Matcha, together with traditional Japanese sweets to balance with the bitter taste of the tea. Preparing tea in this ceremony means pouring all one’s attention into the predefined movements. The whole process is not about drinking tea, but is about aesthetics, preparing a bowl of tea from one’s heart. The host of the ceremony always considers the guests with every movement and gesture. Even the placement of the tea utensils is considered from the guests view point (angle), especially the main guests called the Shokyaku.

Japanese Culture And Tradition PART 1

Posted: 01 Jun 2012 05:40 AM PDT

Japanese Culture And Tradition PART 1 | As we know, Japan is the sun-rises country. Its an island nation in east asia. Their people call Nihon or Nippon . Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of the Sea of Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and Taiwan in the south.

For the part 1, i would like to tell the kimono tradition in Japan. About how to wear it, when this cloth are wear and so on.

Kimono & Yukata

Kimono are made of silk and are usually very expensive. Nowadays they are worn at formal or traditional occasions such as funerals, weddings or tea ceremonies. Only rarely kimono can still be seen in everyday life.

Kimono differ in style and color depending on the occasion on which it is worn and the age and marital status of the person wearing it. To put on a kimono needs some practice. Especially tying the belt (obi) alone is difficult so that many people require assistance. Wearing a kimono properly includes proper hair style, traditional shoes, socks, underwear, and a small handbag for women.

The yukata, on the other hand, is more of an informal leisure clothing. It is a comfortable dress on summer days or after a hot bath. Yukata are relatively inexpensive and made of cotton. While staying at a ryokan, you will be provided with a yukata.

Budget Traveling

Posted: 31 May 2012 08:03 AM PDT

Budget Traveling – Everyone must be looking forward to save while enjoying their travel, especially in a rough economic time such as the one we are currently in. Many people have stopped taking vacations regularly, and others have stopped traveling completely. But travel doesn't have to be expensive. Here are some tips on how you can save while traveling.

1. Fly from smaller airports

If it's at all possible, try flying out of smaller airports. Though it may take longer, flights from small airports are almost always cheaper than those from major airports. Plus, there are usually much fewer people, so security goes quickly.

2. Exchange currency beforehand

Whether the location you're going to accepts your own currency or not, it's a good idea to have the local currency on you at all times, and to exchange for it before you even leave home. This way you get the best exchange rates, and you'll always be able to purchase things when you need them.

3. Stay at low-star hotels

Though generally you'd want to spring for a nice hotel room, there's really no point if you plan to be out and about all day. If you travel to somewhere interesting, you shouldn't have trouble keeping yourself occupied and out of the hotel room all day, so really all you will be doing in your room is sleeping. So cut some costs and go for a 2 or 3-star hotel instead of a 4 or 5-star.

4. Carry snacks/drinks

Especially in areas with large levels of tourism, snacks and drinks are marked up ridiculously high. Being out and about all day will probably make you hungry and thirsty, which is why you should carry some small snacks and/or drinks so that you won't have to pay too much money. You can re-stock later at a local grocery or convenience store and still save a fair amount of money.

Posted: 30 May 2012 07:38 AM PDT

Top 5 Public Bathroom – When you're traveling, it's inevitable for you to have to use the public bathroom, and most of the time this is not a very pleasant experience. There's either graffiti on the wall or the flush isn't working and the place reeks. Some public toilets don't even have locks for their cubicles. If you're very lucky, you'll get into a public bathroom with graffiti, faulty flushes, no locks, and no running water.

However, there are some or… a few public bathrooms that are just a pleasure to look at. You'd wonder if you just accidentally found yourself in a posh hotel. These public bathrooms are very refreshing, and you'd be lucky to encounter them in one of your travels. So here are the lists:

1. Hundertwasser Public Toilets in New Zealand

2. Urilift Pop-up Toilets in Europe

3. Charmin Restroom in Times Square, NY

4. JC Decaux Public Toilets in Paris

5. Daimaru Department Store in Tokyo
