At the RM VAC rally in Gunnison, CO, I got help with my electric problem.
However, I can't tell you exactly how we fixed it. Jim Cooper came and used
his magic, poked and probed, Pat Phippen hooked up his extra battery to
determine that the fan itself was not the problem. After all this, a fuse
was found to be blown on one of the 12 volt circuits (one of the ones on top
of the switches for city power/battery power that are impossible to inspect
without a dental mirror) There may be a ground connection that is unstable
somewhere as well but we don't know where, but the fan now works! Thanks to
all who offered suggestions and helped with my education. I understand the
12 volt circuit better now. Jim suggested that the wiring needs to be
cleaned up as previous owner left things a bit messy as he/she did mods in
that back compartment. Univolt is still working as it should so I am
keeping it for now. 4 year old battery has been kept in good shape by it and
we had enough juice to spend 4 days in the boonies with lights and fan
running so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The rally was fun, BTW, danced
way too much on Friday night, watched the Running of the Bulls (we helped
move the stock they use for roping at the rodeo arena). Most of the time
during the rally, there was some sort of roping going on if you wanted to
watch something other than polishing aluminum or fixing Polly's trailer.
