[A/S] Re: VIN, Vinyl stripe

A plastic putty knife with heat is the best I have ever seen. It is going to leave it scared a little. Then use the GooGone. Before you do all that, make sure your strip is available. It may effect how to go about it. You may get a different year if yours is NLA

Then when you get ready to apply the strip you are going to want to cut it long ways. I saw a decal man put one on. He cut a piece long enough to make a ripping guide. This guide allowed the rest of the strip to slid through it and use a utility knife to cut the strip. he then pulled it through and cut it long ways into 3 pieces. It was cut at the colored sections. The reason he did this was, when you get to the back end where the radios is different by as much as 1 inch from the top of the strip to the bottom it allows the strip to go on without bubbles and creases.

I can take her to the local AAA office and save a trip to the DMV and/or CHP if I can find two complete VIN ID's. I Can only find one on the Federal label. There is a partial on an outside label near the door and stamped on the tongue. But CA requires the complete VIN. Could there be somewhere inside where the VIN is hidden?

What is the proper procedure for removing the stripe from aluminum? Has anyone had any success applying new vinyl over the old?
