Hi Lew,
Now that I'm retired and no0 longer depending on navigation as part of
my career, I've settled on using Delorme Topo North America. However for
satellite photos and mapping Google Earth is where I go to find and see
details of a location. From my experience, a GPS is live navigation as
you need it, Google Earth is the best detail but better for research.
Now, having read the information at the links Trina posted, its possible
Google Earth may come out on top with the best of both technologies...
