If the refrigerator does not have a leak in the cooling unit, you might want
to try "burping" the unit using my method which does not require pulling out
the refrigerator and tipping it over.
I have a '65 Tradewind whose refrigerator stopped working a few years ago,
after I had not used the trailer for a couple of years. I was told that I
needed a new cooling unit (a major expense.)
Nevertheless, I tried to "bounce the fridge back to life." and it worked !!
I turned on the gas and lit the pilot. Of course, nothing happened - no
cold.
So, I hitched up the trailer and took it for a "bouncy joy ride." Up and
down relatively steep hills and over some very rough roads. All told, about
40 minutes or so of bouncy, jarring travel. Then I parked the trailer by my
house and leveled it, leaving the gas on (I checked to make sure that the
pilot light was still burning.)
When I checked back a couple of hours later, the freezer was getting cold!
The refrigerator has been working fine, ever since.
If you try this, please let me know the results.
