My personal choice would be a 1967 (or thereabouts) Suburban. Many of
that era Airstreams were pulled by either Suburbans or IH Travelalls. If I
found a good, straight 1967 Suburban, I would consider taking it to the local
Street Rod shop and have them install a later model GM engine with fuel
injection. A 3/4 ton should have all the beef you would ever need, but I
would want to install a transmission cooler.
Just wishing and daydreaming... To each his own.

I am finally ready to purchase a vehicle to pull my airstream. Can anyone
suggest a vintage car capable of pulling it? I think the weight is
listed as 5500 pounds in the manual. I really don't want to purchase a 3/4 ton
truck, but I will if there isn't a reliable car that can to the job. I'm
open to suggestions. Thanks.
