Re: [A/S] Sealing exterior seams

 

The early silicone sealer gave off acetic acid (think vinegar) as it
cured. I suspect the acid would have corroded the aluminum. Not good.

You can now buy premium products that cure differently, and they even
recommend it to seal aluminum gutters.
