Re: [A/S] VIN, Vinyl stripe

Charlie, Dick and others.  Thank you for the help.  Yep, Charlie, the VIN was right there on the V bar right where you said it be.  But with all the years of paint, in full sunlight, it's virtually impossible to see.  I applied paint stripper and it can now be plainly seen.

Between steam and heat, I'm going to remove the vinyl strip one way or the other.  I am going to have the new one applied by a professional.

Thank you, Marty Hawke, Arroyo Grande, CA

I can take her to the local AAA office and save a trip to the DMV and/or CHP if I can find two complete VIN ID's. I Can only find one on the Federal label. There is a partial on an outside label near the door and stamped on the tongue. But CA requires the complete VIN. Could there be somewhere inside where the VIN is hidden?

What is the proper procedure for removing the stripe from aluminum? Has anyone had any success applying new vinyl over the old?
