Did you try Ridgid directly? My experience with "lifetime" guaranteed products has been the company will usually ship you out a new version if the one you have is no longer operable by any means. Fiskars is fantastic about that, almost fanatic. They have a little pivot pin on their good hedge shears which can drop out if the blades get too loose. If you pay attention it won't fall out because you don't let the blades get sloppy. My wife focuses on the trimming part and not how the tool feels and she has let two of those pins fall out over the past 15 years. I asked Fiskars for some replacement pins and both times they have sent me entire new shears.
