Been there, Done that! More thought put in than actual job took time wise! Easy weekend job! The new panel will be Pre-drilled on the side that is over the adjoining panel! The top part will fit under existing panel and will have 2-3 extra inches of material. Not a precise fit as I was thinking! Without looking I think the rear curved panels fit under the straight wall side at the rib. The holes on the straight section will be used to drill thru the new section.
I used a hammer and chisel to knock off existing rivet heads and was carefull enough not to cause damage. Clecos, masking tape, vulkem,
Olympic rivets, are a must. You can replace panel, and finish the olympic rivets later. A shaver is much simpler when doing a quantity of rivets. I Knock off the protruding piece with a grinder, others use a dremel and some just use side cutters. The shaver doesn't like the protruding piece and will jump around.
The edge over laying the adjacent piece I position using masking tape to align straight, actually tape goes on before I remove the existing rivets. I inserted clecos as I drilled the holes.
You may have to cut the old panel to remove as the chaulk will be holding it after the rivets are removed. removing the old may be the most challenging!
