David, I just love your explanations. They teach me a lot and that's no lie. Thank you. One note that I will add to your explanation of the water heater operation is that if the contacts become a bit corroded, the exact same occurence as you describe is possible. It happened to me this year, and I was about ready to pull out some hair. An old RV mechanic told me to firstly, clean ALL the wiring quick connect contacts and then worry about the water heater. I did this and my water heater became operational again. The old style water heaters, like what was in my 1978 are a piece of cake to fix. All you need is parts. These new ones frighten me, lol. Probably all you need is parts, but they are much more costly parts.
