[A/S] Re: 1959 Airstream 34 Ft Camper "So What is That Thing Next to the Sink?"

Board,

In looking at this old Airstream interior pictures there is a chrome round thing with some kind of a wing nut top next to the kitchen sink. I have seen only one other thing like that in an old Airstream but am very curious what it is and what is it's function?

I am going to assume it has something to do with the gas for the stove, maybe used white gas?

Any way, just curious, but it looks very interesting.
