Re: [tabtrailers] Re: Grey water tank

Crystal, I've used old hoses that needed to be replaced for this purpose, but since the hose doesn't have to maintain pressure, you can get a small inexpensive one for just a few bucks at one of the "Dollar" stores and cut the end off. I used to keep some old hose sections for plant support, and if I hadn't had one with a coupler, an inexpensive replacement coupler from Lowe's or similar store could have been added to a section of hose. In fact, another option would be to buy a cheap hose, cut the end off for the drain hose, then replace the coupler on the new hose, so it is still usable.

Can that 6" piece be purchased, or does one have to buy a water hose just to cut the end off? I am planning to use my laundry soap container as soon as it's empty, but will probably need that hose piece. I currently use a dish pan, and the nice thing about that is when travelling, you can pack things inside it. It's harder to carry for dumping, though, if there's not sewer on the site.

I like it because it is small to pack and not too heavy for me to carry to empty; I don't use a lot of water and have never had it fill up and spill over. Unlike you, I'm new to camping, and not sure why the "shortcut" of using a small size container (that is properly closed) is bad for the environment? Do the normal grey water containers that you mention treat the water in some way, or make the water better to dispose of at the grey water dumps? I like to be very careful about my impact on the environment, which is one reason that I like the T@B so much. TT
