The 2000i companion essentially has the parallel kit built into it. You just plug in two cables. I have a Honda 2000i and a Honda 2000i companion. The companion has the 30 amp recepticle built in. The companion makes it easier because you don't have to attach the parallel kit only the cables.

I suppose the frequencies have to be synchronized to operate properly. With two 2000i, you will need the parallel kit.

I understand that, but what is up with the 2000i companion on the Honda website? I had a salesman tell me I needed that one to parallel with the 2000i we have in MN? I thought as long as you had two 2000i you were fine to run them together. One did not need to be this 2000i companion?

Two generators run in parallel gives twice the current output capability as one, the same as connecting two batteries in parallel.

I don't know, since we don't own it. However, I have seen pictures with them hooked together and being sold in combo. What is that for? Why two?
