See first if the silicone spray will help with threading the awning welting into the track. If you have the Archwing awning, it may be that you're pulling the 'wings' too far out and exerting too much pressure to stretch the awning completely straight. And be sure that the section of track on the end that you've widened to be able to thread the welting into is not where the end of the welting is sitting - either be above or below the opening.
