RE: [A/S] External mounting of spare tire on 1970 Airstream 23'

There is a place underneath the front of the trailer. This is behind the
propane tanks but they are not visible. It may be that you have to order
the mechanism for storage of the tire but that is where it goes...

I bought this airstream just a few weeks ago. I love it so far.

Does anyone know if the original configuration for this model included a way
of mounting the spare tire on the exterior? I don't see any place on the
shell for doing this. Also I don't see a place underneath the chassis that
this would be possible.

In the several airstream photos I have looked at, I don't see an externally
mounted spare tire in any of them??
