Re: [tabtrailers] Re: Breakaway cable

Sandra and Mervyn - this cable is not designed for T@B emergency mechanical brake actuation. Here is note from the mfg. Better head back to the dealer and get a stronger cable.

Richard,

Unfortunately, the Zip is only designed to work with electrical brake systems.  It doesn't have the tensile properties to pull the mechanically activated brakes that you've described.

Sorry!

Saw your Fastway Zip cable (http://www.fastwaytrailer.com/zip/). I want to use this on a T@B 16 foot trailer (Al-Ko chassis) with the brake cable that pulls a brake handle to activate the mechanical trailer brakes. Is it made strong enough for that or will this only work on electric switch activated brakes?

Thanks.

We don't need the controller that is sold with this twisty cable - just the cable. It will just replace the long red one that comes on the TABs - and probably TADAs. If your TAB should ever come unattached from your tow vehicle while towing - highly unlikely - BUT - this will activate the surge brake on the trailer.
