I've never had my trailer in RMNP but I did tow someone else's trailer
there....
From my journal this past summer....
After a long day, the dogs and I were ready to get back to the
trailer...... in Longmont.
We were coming down a mountain, in the park, when I saw a Suburban and
RV off on the side of the road. The Suburban's hood was open... uh oh...
There was a guy with 3 little kids standing outside.
I pulled up with Bruiser nose to nose with the 'burb.......
The guy came over and I said, "I'm an RVer, what can I do to help?"
He said his Suburban was "Dead"..... feet up in the air dead it seems.
It wouldn't even try to start.
I asked if he had called anyone... he said a Ranger stopped and knew the
situation... there's no cell service up there. That told me he had no
solution.
"I can tow your trailer to a campground."
He started to say no, but really was a bit frantic and I offered the
only solution he had.
Problem was, the Suburban was hooked up to the trailer.... He had tow
ropes. I drove down a couple of miles, and turned around and drove back
up the mountain and backed in front of the 'burb.
He unhooked them, and stuck his hitch ball in my truck's receiver....
then gave me the signal and I pulled the Suburban far enough up the
mountain where he could let it back up next to his trailer....
Then I backed up to the trailer and he hooked it all up... His friend
had arrived in his car so he stayed with the three kids, while I drove
the guy and his trailer up the mountain to the campground where 62 boy
scouts were waiting for him.....
Seems he's the scoutmaster for a great weekend camp out..... and one
very grateful guy.
Before I left the park I decided to take another park road which was
also beautiful, and it came out where I had gone in a few years ago.
