Hello Cabin Fever Friends
I know we can't take a T@B to the TOP of Mt Laconte (in the Smoky Mountains) but there are several parks around to camp and hike to the top and if your lucky to get a room, cabin at the top - they have a Lodge at the top
(you would have to get one that was canceled as they book early) but Bonnie and I have hiked up and back in a day and it was worth it even in the rain the last mile up. (Always take your rain gear in the Smoky's) Fortunately it stopped and we had a great hike down.
Here is a blog page for Doug
the gentleman that was the Care taker over the winter months. He lived on top of the mountain during the winter as it is closed to the public and blogged everyday and will be speaking this weekend at Townsend Winter Heritage.
Work Camping here has allowed us to fill our "Bucket" with all the things we wanted to experience here in the Smoky's. We have 9 more months to go. Three more months here on the east side and in April we will move to the west side, (Actually TOWNSEND.. where this Winter Heritage is held)
Hope this will give some of you something to plan during this "Cabin Fever" weather. We dodged the bullet here, no SNOW or ICE ! ! ! Just getting colder by the hour.... Oh and LOTs of WIND ! 17mph here at Mr.Gadgets weather station....
Happy Trails
~ken & Bonnie
