The furnace is self igniting. It will not operate at the same time as the heat pump as it is a separate position on the thermostat. It is either one or the other. The furnace will operate off of the 12V system either boon docking (unplugged) or plugged in to 110 whereas the heat pump will only work plugged in to 110. The thermostat has separate positions for AC/Heat (Heat from Cool Cat) and Furnace which is the propane fired furnace.
