Re: [tabtrailers] Re: FOOD in TOWNSEND

Sharon
So far we could suggest:

Miss Lily's
The Back Porch
Subway

One more escapes me but it was a little restaurant right on the left side as you go to Miss Lily's

Great food at all of these
We can get the name by the time you all get there
Happy eating everyone
~ken & Bonnie
p.s For those Ice Cream Ahaulic's there are at least 3 Ice Cream places between Townsend KOA and IGA (.46mile) .... And the Resturant store at the KOA also has Fudge AND Ice Cream.....
OK we do have to prioritize here . . . ~ken

Just FYI:
The Townsend KOA has a Resturant,(with great sandwiches, homemade Fudge and Ice Cream) camper Store, with FOOD, milk, bread, can goods, a mini mart type store with a little of everything. A GAS STATION (Hey your only 1 mile from the park entrance) and Propane station. Private Showers, you close the door and it's just a shower and a space with a bench area. The rest rooms are seperate.

There is a great walking (Concrete sidewalk) trail from Twonsend KOA all the way down to the Back Porch... for those early morning walkers. The Smoky Mountain Heritage Center and Townsend Visitors center are all along the way. SO bring your walking shoes if you like to walk.
Can't wait to see all my T@B friends again and some new ones...
Thanks Sharon

Hi Sharon,

Sounds like to good plan to me, we can play it out along the way.  Usually works out better that way.

Hey Carol...

Well, we did a little bit of everything you mentioned. Here's what worked last year on our Caravan from the BRR to Gettysburg...

Most mornings we ate breakfast in camp, but we did eat together at Bluffs Coffee Shop on the Parkway on Monday and hit McDonald's on our way home on Sunday morning.

Most lunches were picnics together along the Parkway and Skyline Drive and one at a Parkway coffee shop. Lunches in Gettysburg were on our own or in small groups since we were off playing tourist.

Suppers were a combination of cooking in camp and eating together (not a potluck) and going out as a group to local restaurants. We usually had happy hour late in the afternoon that kinda turned into supper. I think we went out to a restaurant 3 times.

As for grocery shopping, we did a little of that after supper on Monday night in Roanoke and when we got to Gettysburg.

Making decisions about meals wasn't too difficult with 5 or 6 T@Bs last year, but our Caravan count has doubled this year!

There are several good restaurants in Townsend where we could all go for supper on Monday night and I'd like to stop at the Colonel Saunders Museum & Restaurant for lunch on our way to Cumberland Falls on Wednesday. Those are the only two suggestions I'm going to put out there for everyone.

I hope this helps! See you soon!
