Paul, after camping one time with the heavy table doubling as the bed support, we went with the bed slats. Best thing we ever did. We now have room to dance (okay, maybe not that much room) and the table is used outside as a cook surface. When it is time to pack up and leave the campsite, the table goes into the bed of the truck. The bed slats tuck away easily and everyone is happy.
