The original batteries in my Bambi are shot and need to be replaced. This is no big surprise on five year old batteries, but I want to do some research on how to get the best durability I can.
Initial research indicates that the converter in my unit does not use any sort of "smart charging" technology. I suspect that when we camp at state parks with "shore power" hooked up for several days, the batteries are probably being overcharged.
Any opinions / experiences / sources of info would be appreciated;
-Anyone have experience with upgrading the charging system on a unit like mine?
-Is there any sort of module that can be added between the batteries and the converter to better regulate charging?
-Or is an upgraded converter the better way to go?
The unit is used almost exclusively at parks with electrical hookups. The only time the batteries come into play are when we are loading the unit a day before a trip and want to crank up the 'fridge, use the lights, etc (and we can actually plug it in at the storage lot during that activity), and an occasional overnight stay at a relatives house on the way to Florida.
