[A/S] Screen door thumblatch

Does anyone have a quick fix for a broken screen door latch on a '99 Safari? the thumb section that controls it broke off, and I have to use a screwdriver to pry it open. Not handy out here in big wind country. I've taped it open for now but the cat might figure out how to get out if I don't get a better solution.

Also the screws that hold the latches on the outdoor storage bins---what size are they? I"ve lost two so far....
