Re: [A/S] Re: Tow vehicle advice needed

Teri, if you are sold on a Chev/GMC (my favorite, also), look at a 2500HD
with the Duramax. It is a great tow vehicle. I used a GMC Duramax/Allison
transmission for 100,000 miles and most of it was towing. The Duramax
gave us no mechanical problems. Some people add a chip to increase the
horsepower and torque. In my opinion, that is not good for the longevity of the
engine.

One minor problem with the GMC/Chev with a short bed is that when I bought
mine, the short bed only came with a small fuel tank. An aftermarket tank
can be added if the shorter range of the smaller tank bothers you.

Thanks Hunter, when you put it that way, it makes total sense... so in
regards to a pick up, we would definitely need a crew cab, since we often
travel with 4 people.

So what are the "specks" if you will on what kind of truck should we be
looking for? I prefer Chev/GMC's but wouldn't shy away from a Ford either.
We've just always had Chev's and GMC's. I do not prefer to go
non-American. We also prefer to stay with a gas engine.

Thanks for helping me look out of the suburban box :)
