Re: [A/S] Re: Tow vehicle advice needed

Just to throw in our experience and maybe brag a little.:-)

My truck of choice has been since 2002 a GMC 2500HD with an 8.1L
gas/Allison 5 spd with a 3.73 rear axle ratio. Changed the engine fan to
a Flex Lite dual electric.

It currently has 123,000 miles on it. We tow a 2004 31' Classic anywhere
we want to.

Last summer that included going over the Monarch Pass on US50 in
Colorado at 11,800' and fishing along the Madison river in Montana. Oh
yeah, and getting hit by an F1 tornado in lovely southern Illinois.

We get 8-9+ towing and 10-13 slick.

To date service has been oil changes with Mobil 1 when the Oil Change
light comes on and an annual visit to a mechanic for a once over. All
fluids/belts/plugs etc. are changed on the manufactures recommended
schedule or sooner.

So far neither the engine or transmission or the truck for that matter
have had any mechanical problems.
