The lockset is a pretty simple/crude one.
To remove it first take the inside handle off and then there is one
screw on the inside skin, two on the end on the frame. Depending on age
and condition the outside skin gasket may just crumble or it may require
some persuasion to allow the lockset to be pulled out from the left side
and pulled to the left to clear the frame.
Once out you will be able to see how it works.
Perhaps if Dave Schumann sees this conversation he can jump in with the
latest status of the lockset and it's parts.
