Reality is that in January and February the southern edges of many
"Alberta Clippers" extend south of the hill country. While the chill
may not last very long, temperatures can get almost as cold as Ohio, the
winds are punitive, and snow does happen. The weather in between
usually is fairly comfortable, but temperatures do tend to be somethat
lower than in Ocala.

The only part of Texas that is chill-proof is the "Valley" - the lower
part of the Rio Grande valley + southern Padre Island. The downside of
the "Valley" is that it is quite a bit more humid than Ocala; many
people find the atmosphere somewhat stifling.

As for Georgetown and Fredricksburg, Georgetown is way too cold - ntac
of course is worse. Fredricksburg is warmer, but not as warm as New
Braunfels.

That being said, you should have no trouble heating your a/s anywhere
south of the hill country - we never have. Many locals with older
houses heat with a single floor furnace and have no difficulty.

Freeze to death? Not very likely - but unless you have good
windbreakers top and bottom when you are outside, you may consider that
a viable alternative.

Why not check with Jim - Wimberly is just into the Hill Country north of
New Braunfels, and he certainly will be able to provide good advice.

Peace,
- Lew
