I once was Suburban shopping..... I found one I liked, but it was too
expensive and they were not budging.

So, I went online..... put in what I wanted... and there was one dealer
nearby who had it... it was the same truck!!!

I bought it for much less than their price, went and got it...... (I
used AOL's car shopper)

A few of my experiences.....

I test drove a Ford dually, it was a mid-80s truck. The salesman was in
the truck and we got up on the freeway. The truck was pulling so hard to
the right I was practically making a left turn to keep it straight. The
conversation went like this...

Me: "This truck pulling hard to the right......"

Salesman: "They build them that way so if you fall asleep at the wheel
you won't drift into oncoming traffic....." (I swear that's what he said)

Another time, in the 70s, I was coming back to Connecticut from my
mother's place in Long Island... in jeans and an old ski parka. I
stopped at the Mercedes dealer in Greenwich and went inside...... there
were maybe 6-7 salesmen along the edges of the showroom..... they all
pretended to be busy. I know they were just hoping I would leave. I sat
in a few cars, no one said anything, so I left.

I went outside and was getting into my car when a salesman rolled up
from lunch..... "Can I help you?" Hmmm... that's better I thought.

"Yes, I want a 300D, navy blue, sunroof, tan leather...."

"I have it over here....." we walked over behind the building and there
it was! The exact car I described, as if I had ordered it."

We walked into the showroom, the other salesmen all watching as I sat
down and wrote a check <g>

Considering my last experience, buying this truck, I have little use for
dealers right now...... what are you looking for?
