[A/S] 1st motorhome

My wife wants to get rid of camper on PU. She wants a real bed to sleep in. Looking to buy first motorhome. Don't want a cheaply built one and don't want to drive something that costs more than my house. Sooooo a used one is in order for us. A diesel is almost a must. I have 2 Mercedes Diesels and an Ford F250 Diesel. What chassis are Airstream motorhomes built on. Say from late eighties to early 2000's. I assume there is no wood in the framing. Any particle board on the interior? What is the floor made of? Do Airstreams have any recurring problems I should be aware of? Thanks so much. Roger
