Hello William,
It would help to know the year of your trailer, since finishes have
changed over the years.
By solar windows, I think you mean what were known as Vista View
windows, an oblong sky viewer over the regular windows.
Try a product known as Gel Gloss and some elbow grease. Failing that you
will need a find abrasive to take off the layer of plastic that has
aged differently. It may be so deep that only replacing the plastic will
do, a really tricky job.
Try the Gel Gloss on the bumper and etc too. It has solvents in it that
do wonders. I'm not sure what to make of the gold tarnish you describe,
unless the coating on them has deteriorated and discolored. In that
case, you would need to remove the clear coat, polish and re coat (or be
stuck with polishing forever)
While I hear that polishing everything is important on a new-to-you
trailer, I have better things to do, like go camping!! The big polish
job impresses everyone at the first rally you go to, then it is just
more work. Some people just like it, I don't get it.
In the antiques world, we call this patina and it is valuable!
