I would indeed be interested in a follow-up !! Like you, this week I was having to replace 4 Maxxis SP225x75x15's..... six years ago they were $115 ea., now they are $200+ ea... so, I went with GY Marathon Ds... What issues did you have with Marathons before Maxxis?

Subject: [A/S] Trailer Tires

I don't post much, but just thought I'd share. I think I may have found the answer to the 15" tire dilemma for my 32' 1991 Excella(8300LBS GVW). After bad luck with Marathons I had been running Maxxis for the past 5 years with no problems, but time to replace and the price has gone out of sight on them now. So I did some research and just received 4 Continental VANCO 2 commercial truck tires in the 225-70R15D size from Tire Rack. The Continentals are only 4 tenths of an inch shorter than the 225-75R15D Marathons, and at 65 LBS pressure the Contis are rated at 2470 LBS MAX load at 106 MPH, which equates to a lot higher capacity at 65 MPH. They come with a 1 year road hazard warranty and 6 years otherwise. I called Continental customer service and they indicated that using them on a trailer was within their design parameters, they would recommend it, and it would not affect the warranty. These tires are original equipment on the Mercedes Freightliner
Sprinter van, so they should be good for tall heavy loads. If the group is interested I will post my impressions after I have some towing miles on them.
