Anne,
When considering your phone upgrade, and as you will be full timing, be
aware that Verizon now has a "Home Connect" device... You can have your
home phone in your trailer and it travels everywhere you go. The "Home
Connect" is a small unit, looks just like my little wireless router
except that it has two phone jacks on the back and you can plug two
household phones into it. When you make ore receive a call to you
"home" phone, your home phone works juat as always except that the
connection isn't by a phone line on the street, its to the Verizon
Wireless cell phone network...
I converted to the Verizon "Home Connect" wireless device a year ago and
love it! Unlimited calling any time of day or night including long
distance all for a flat rate $19.95 a month including Verizon Wireless
answering and call forwarding service. Verizon's Home Connect is the
greatest thing that has happened to phones in RV trailers and I rarely
use my cell phone anymore and don't have to worry about usage charges...
Any where your Verizon cell phone will work, so will your "wireless"
RV house phone...
The one thing I did that Verizon doesn't include, was I put a external
"Trucker" cell phone antenna on the roof of my trailer mounted to the
SOLAR array bracket and the small diameter cable runs in through the
refrigerator vent and connects to the back of the little box. I never
use my cell phone in the trailer anymore...
