No doubt Norcold and Dometic cooling coils are poorly and cheaply made,
ammonia cycle commercial refrigeration units used in frozen food
warehouses, ice plants, bottling plants etc have a very long life measured
in decades because the cooling coils are made of type 316 stainless steel.
Using SS would make your refrigerator last the life of the RV. The Amish
may use heavier wall steel tubing to make their coils but they are still
steel and will eventually fail from the corrosive effects of ammonia.
