How old is the awning, and what make?
If it is an A & E (the vertical arms are curved and follow the shape of the
side of the Airstream), you may be able to get parts from Dometic (the
refrigerator and air conditioner folks). Dometic bought A & E several years
ago,and are a source for replacement fabric awnings.
