I understand "basic", but I also understand the frustration of going
outside in inclimate weather trying to light the pilot on the water heater. So
much easier to push the interior "ON" button on the gas side or turn on the
electrical switch for the element in the water heater.

Tents beat "sleeping under the stars", especially when it is raining.
Trailers have an advantage over tents in most any situation, except when
on an overnight backpacking trip.
And to me, an automatic water heater enhances the camping experience.
