Our 73 had it under the front part of the trailer. There is a bracket that
holds it in position until you crank it down.

I bought this airstream just a few weeks ago. I love it so far.

Does anyone know if the original configuration for this model included a way
of mounting the spare tire on the exterior? I don't see any place on the
shell for doing this. Also I don't see a place underneath the chassis that
this would be possible.

In the several airstream photos I have looked at, I don't see an externally
mounted spare tire in any of them??
