Have any of you experienced this problem? Do you use WiFi signal boosters? Or do you have your own WiFi "hotspots" for your Airstream? I recently tried out the "Clear" WiFi mobile hotspot, but couldn't get it to work in those outlaying areas. I have also seen other campers use external antennas and amplifiers for their Mobile WiFi's. Also note that we are Verizon customers. So, what works best for you? and, what works for you "boondockers" ??
My wife and I have depended upon WiFi for years now. We have a Verizon
account, but rarely activate it because generally if we can't find a
WiFi "hotspot", there is no Verizon coverage either. For us it usually
is a matter of "catch-as-catch-can". If you discuss the matter with the
campground owner/host they usually are very helpful - grouches are rare.
We both have disability issues, so pretty much have to request a spot
near the office, and those areas usually are well covered.
We never have found any reason to add amplifiers, boosters, directional
antennas, or other gadgets - though we too have seen other campers with
them. Our experience is that if you hang loose, sooner or later you
always will find a signal - sometimes in the most unexpected places.
