[tabtrailers] Which Brand of Portable A/C

Hi! I see some T@bbers are using a portable AC for their cooling needs. I'm wondering which brand are you using (couldnt zoom in clear enough in "Kathy's Album"), how many BTU's and if they are satisfied with the cooling ability? We live in FL so humidity is a factor. I'm thinking of getting a portable for my trip out West to save installing and uninstalling a window unit every night. If a portable doesnt cool well and I'll just end up purchasing a window unit later I'd rather save the expense of getting the portable and just go with the window unit and deal with it. I'm hoping a portable will work both for the trip and our future needs. Would be nice to be able to turn it on when stopping for lunch without having to mess with a window installation.

Thanks,
Melissa

Thank you, that's kindof what I though.

Re: [tabtrailers] New T@B owner

Hopefully the weather on the Coast is being nicer than in the valley.  I'm trying to do garden work (and T@B work) between rainstorms. :-)

Re: [tabtrailers] 12 volt outlets in 2004 T@BS?

Karen, an inverter uses a 12VDC source to produce a 120VAC output. If the 120V device uses the same amount of energy as the 12V device, the inverter will still need the same amount of current* input as the 12V device operated directly, so you won't gain anything. The 120VAC device will use much less current than the 12V device, but at the higher voltage, But to get that voltage, the inverter will have to use more power input. The formula for power is voltage times current. To keep the power the same, when one goes down, the other has to come up. I would avoid using a 12V outlet for anything requiring higher power. An inverter operated from a 12V outlet is handy for recharging smaller batteries for cameras, phones, small fans, portable computers, etc. but not higher-current devices, unless one has some very large storage batteries and larger wiring and appropriate receptacle.

*Actually, a little more current input is required for the converter to produce the same amount of power out, since some power is lost in the conversion process.

My 2007 did not have one I installed one myself. Jerry can help he helped me. Just don't plug in a 12v curling iron. I'll use an inverter next tome. Almost started a fire glad the 12v plug had an online fuse

[A/S] "Sorry" To The List

I am sorry that the list was subjected to the SPAM email that appeared to be
from me. Playing detective revealed that it really originated in Russia. I
was able to determine that "They" got into my Earthlink account and used the
contact list to send out the junk mail. I never updated email addresses
there and those emails bounced indicating the bad addresses. Checking all
contact lists revealed it was the one with the bounced addresses. That
contact list is now empty.

Clamshells have one in the galley, but other than that, I don't know. Putting one in the main area of my clammy is "on the list" just to be able to dry camp and charge cell phones a little easier.

I'm pretty sure that no T@Bs came with a 12V socket; at least until 2008.  I browsed the '*electrical' photos and installed mine as shown here.

[tabtrailers] Re: Love it when folks want to see our T@B

Agree 100%....we keep our door locked when traveling as well.
