If you do go that route, be sure that you are gluing bare wood to bare wood not to paint.

Had a new idea today. A 5/16"' toggle bolt through the floor with a turnbuckle hooked into one of the handle holes on each end of the battery. The toggle wings span about 2" so each one should hold about 200 # if the floor holds up. A little tricky to implement but should provide a 100% safety factor. I'll peen the thread on the bottom of the threaded rod so the toggle nut will not come off. Of coarse I'll safety wire the turnbuckles. The whole mess weighs less then two pounds.
