Re: [A/S] Squarestream

Motorhomes can be a challenge to identify their model year "as a
motorhome". Often the manufacturer brings in a number of chassis and
then builds on them as needed. It is very common to find the chassis VIN
for one year and the motorhome VIN for the next year.

Then of course different states have different rules for which VIN they
want for registration and/or smog testing.

Another challenge comes up when a unit, motorhome or travel trailer sits
on a dealers lot for to long. More often than most folks realize the
year the coach is sold and registered does not always match the year of
the VIN.

When every there is a question of the age of the RV the coach VIN not
the chassis VIN determines it.

You can look at http://www.airstream.com/service/serial-numbers/ to see
what the factory uses to determine year/models.

The history I have claims that 1979 was the last year of Argosy
motorhome production. It was also the first year of Airstream
motorhomes. It was also the only year that an Airstream motorhome was
available both painted and unpainted.

It is entirely possible Airstream built a one off 24'. If someone really
wanted one and was willing to pay the price they would/will do it.
Airstream has a commercial division that does custom coaches of all
sorts. They are the group that built the NASA astronaut transporters.

Is this your coach on Fred's Motorhome Archvies website?
